Culture Change and Dining Standards

Nutricopia is the recognized leader for implementing resident dining changes in California long term care facilities. Lee Tincher has served on the Executive Board of the California Culture Change Coalition for over five years. Nutricopia assisted the coalition with the Person Directed Dining Pilot Project in 2008 which incorporated regulatory guidance from CMS Region IX and CDPH to test several dining innovations in skilled nursing facilities. Three practices were piloted: restaurant style meals, buffet style meals and an expanded snack program. The experiences of these providers and the "lessons learned" are described in the Person Directed Dining Pilot Project Practice Package and facilities may find this a very useful FREE tool.

Nutricopia dietitians are also experts in the latest practices for long term care dining and have assimilated the Dining Practice Standards released by the Pioneer Network in the fall of 2011 into their consultation practice. The document is available at this link: http://www.pioneernetwork.net/Providers/DiningPracticeStandards.

Nutricopia Policy and Procedure Manuals also incorporate culture change and the dining practice standards.
